The body has natural mechanisms to survive in starvation for several days. When foods consume is reduced, the body immediately saving energy by reducing the basal metabolic rate or (BMR). BMR is the minimum energy that the body needs rest in a state of total. Yet to burn excess fat, your body just needs a large energy. Weight loss seen in the beginning of the diet is the reduction of water and glycogen (energy supplies stored in the liver), rather than excess fat. If there is fat that come eroded, there were not significant. Yo-yo diet or low-calorie diet that is done repeatedly can disrupt the balance of metabolism, balance hormones, and decreased body resistance to infections and other diseases.

Body mechanism also has appestat or appetite control center in the brain, which serves as a measure of the adequacy of nutrition in the blood. If adequate nutrition is fulfilled, appestat will provide enough signals to the body. Conversely, if the lack of sufficient nutrition, it will continue give signaled less, so that the body often feels hungry. BMR which is down requires more than 5 weeks becoming normal. University of Pennsylvania United States had done research on a group of people who do low-calorie diet. Proved to 5 weeks after stopping of low-calorie diet, their metabolism rate has not recovered fully.

Doing hard diets in the long run it can eliminate a large amount of fat, but also remove some muscle from vital organs of the body and muscle-autonomous body. Lack of such diets is that once we get back to the original eat, which was first restored is the fat texture so that the body was sagged and fatter than before. This happens because BMR was not ready to anticipate changes in eating patterns so that new food can not be digested in the normal.
